VOGUE-ING A MOVEMENT IN MOTION

“Vogue-ing: A Movement in Motion" is a large-scale projection that celebrates the expressive dance style of Vogue. Set against vibrant backdrops, this immersive installation brings to life the fluid, angular poses and fierce, high-energy movements of Vogue culture, highlighting its roots in the LGBTQ+ ballroom scene. The projection captures the elegance, power, and creativity of Vogue dancers as they transform the space into a runway of self-expression, inclusivity, and bold identity.

The Closet of Hollywood
“The Closet of Hollywood” is a found footage experimental short examining Hollywood cinema with clips from pre, during, and post-code eras. The idea of homosexuality was not highly regarded during the turn of the century, and it was prohibited from being openly depicted. Yet, upon closer examination, one quickly learns that it has been hinted at throughout films all this time. Whether through scenes with outright homosexuality such as in Queen Christina (1933), or scenes featuring groups of men in tight shirts (which may subtly indicate a gay bar) as seen in Advise and Consent (1961), it is hard to deny the presence of LGBTQ+ culture in Hollywood filmmaking. So, "Wilkommen,Bienvenue," and welcome to The Closet of Hollywood.

Downtown Obscura
Tasked with creating a camera obscura, I took heavy duty garbage bags and blacked out my room. In order to get the best result, I had to wait till mid-day for brightest light to shine through the little hole I cut out. My bedroom looks out towards campus, and a busy road and all of that was reflected in my final result.

For this project, I was tasked with creating an autoscopy—a Greek term for psychic visual experiences where a person perceives their body from either an internal perspective (like a mirror) or an external one (an out-of-body experience). We were to base this on a passion or fear.
I chose to explore my passion for Broadway musicals and music, along with my fear of acceptance. "I Am What I Am" from *La Cage Aux Folles* has always been a favorite of mine, and I felt it perfectly represents who I am.

When a widow discovers an old mixtape from a childhood sweetheart, she is drawn into a journey of love, loss, and self-reflection as she contemplates moving into the home they once dreamed of together.
"Lenny Bernstein" was a small scale projection project. Growing up with a passion for music and Broadway, Leonard Bernstein was a driving force. The composer behind the classic West Side Story and On the Town. For this projection, I used found footage and projected on my keyboard as well as other found items. "One Hand, One Heart" is my favorite song from West Side Story. I thought it was fitting that would be the right clip for when the projection would be shown. This was my first time using MadMapper, and doing a project of this kind.
